Hosting a website out of your house is a monstrously bad idea. It is a job for professionals. There are so many important things that must be considered, from security to bandwidth use to keeping the computer running, etc., etc., etc.

You can just set up a GNU/Linux distro(Debian, Ubuntu, SUSE, etc.) and Apache on an old junk computer you have, but you need to get a static IP address from your ISP, which costs $$$.
Once you get a static IP, you need to set up port forwarding for HTTP on port 80 on your router, then you need to buy a domain name that links to your IP.

Theres alot of ways to go about this. One is to go to msn have an email add then use ms office you can create a webiste for buying, selling items or just a home page in general. The next thing I would do which would be cheaper is to go to a free forum and place your own domain on it. You can get domain from yahoo for like $9 a year. The two sites I’ve listed are very user friendly and have the simpliest set-up ever. You can buy a domain name and put it in there just cheaper and easier. I’m a pro so dont hesitate to ask for help or opinions.
