Windows or Linux web hosting?

Chosen Answer:

Nowdays, they are pretty much the same. Windows host almost always still offer PHP/MySQL and PERL. Some will offer ColdFusion for an additional charge. What you won’t find on a Linux host is SQL Server and ASP.NET.

Look at webhost4life.com, they are pretty inexpensive. It’s probably true that the only FREE host are Linux, but you get what you pay for…

Even though I’m a windows user, I use a unix host. When was the last time you heard a new virus attacked unix? So I stick with unix. Also, I don’t know ASP and am a perl/PHP programmer so I stick with it.

Most webhosts generally provide Linux hosting because it is cheaper for them to run and generally more stable…..But you can still get Windows hosting should you desire, although slightly more expensive….
